Break of journey - all stations

Hi all - quick question if I may:

On the return portion of an Anytime Return from, say, York to London Terminals, can you break your journey at any/all stations along line of route? i.e. not just stations with direct trains to final destination, but Finsbury Park, St Neots, etc? Or does every train you board theoretically have to take you to your destination?

As long as you stay within the date(s) and route(s) of validity you can break your journey where you like and as many times as you like.
