Hi Guys

I don't have access to the restrictions, what is the cheapest way to get from Bridgend to London Monday morning, via Salisbury, that will allow a break of journey in Salisbury (not overnight)? No railcards.

Best I can find is the SSS, £42, or before 10, the Anytime for £48.10.

Thanks.

No, it's not for me, some visitors want to go sightseeing on their way back to the airport.

The SSS Bridgend to London Terminals via Salisbury takes the restriction code Q8 as listed above by sonic2009.

Travel from stations not listed above: Off-Peak tickets from stations not listed are valid for connections into trains departing as shown above.

That means an early start can be made from Bridgend to connect into the 0822 from Bristol TM to Salisbury arriving 0932. Travel via Bristol Parkway would also be allowed leaving Bridgend at 0630 arriving Parkway 0731, then 0749 from Bristol Parkway to Bristol TM arrive 0801 then onto the 0822.

Similar connections can be made off the 0730 or 0830 departures from Bridgend.

Equally you can change onto the 0730 or later Portsmouth services at Cardiff Central direct to Salisbury.

Dear God, the poor guy wants to get from Bridgend to London via Salisbury and all you can come up with is strange code numbers such as SSS, BOJ and Q8. I think this sums up the nonsence that is the present ticketing setup.

SSS wasn't clarified anywhere in the thread. Apologies for that. That's the industry three letter code for a Super Off Peak Single.

The explanations about restriction code Q8 and break of journey (BOJ) were needed to show that the SSS is indeed valid from Bridgend via Salisbury to London Terminals in the early morning.

Incidentally, I notice booking engines won't offer the SSS for journeys via Salisbury until 1000 from Bridgend. They'll instead overcharge by £6.10.

Said "poor guy" happens to be a railway employee, so myself and probably the 2 responders would expect him to know what these codes mean.

So in fact it's hardly nonsense at all, not to the OP anyway.
