Quick question what is Brighowgate bus station in Grimsby? It is not the main bus station but is it even used anymore if so by which buses, if not was it ever used for any purpose. Thanks.
I think it's where the Coxon's Cars taxi office now is. See the postcard which is about the 10th image on this page:

It was the Lincolnshire Road Car bus station in Grimsby, but ceased being used for most bus services a long time ago - I'd say most likely after deregulation in 1986. I do vaguely recall seeing Applebys coaches there in the early-2000s, but whether loading or just parked up I can't recall.
Lincolnshire Road Car were pretty much pushed out of Grimsby after deregulation by a very expansionist Grimsby-Cleethorpes Transport, only really returning after GCT were bought out by Stagecoach who retrenched to the core (traditional) GCT operating area. GCT of course had their own bus station so had no need to use Brighowgate, so once LRC left it was no longer needed as a bus station.
Stagecoach in Lincolnshire is a brand name of Stagecoach East Midlands, which in turn is the trading name of Lincolnshire Road Car Co. Limited.Isn’t Lincolnshire RoadCar now what is Stagecoach-in-Lincolnshire (which InterConnect is part of)
On the NE Lincs Council website, you can access current and historic planning applications. Application DC/562/09/PAR made in 2009 in relation to the Brighowgate Bus Station site was for change of use from Bus Depot. It states that the previous use was as a bus station, and that use as a bus station ended on 2nd May 2009. This may be another clue as regards the timeline for this site.

Hmmm.... not exactly knowledgeable about Lincolnshire but here goes....
Stagecoach in Lincolnshire was made up of two (or three) component operators. Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport had been the municipal operator responsible for local routes and ran from the old tram depot that is still in use. Lincolnshire Road Car was the "country operator" of services in Lincolnshire and was owned by BET, Tilling and the National Bus Company with their depots across the county (and in Newark) though in the period before Stagecoach, they had also purchased Lincoln City Transport.
Lincolnshire Road Car had a small depot at Duchess Street in Grimsby that had originally closed in 1987 when tender losses saw the few remaining services move to be run by Louth depot. Eventually, they reopened the Grimsby depot though on a limited basis. When Stagecoach (who bought GCT in the early 1990s) bought Yorkshire Traction (owner of Road Car), they closed the small Grimsby depot (and eventually the Louth depot).
As in Lincoln and a number of other towns and cities, there were separate bus stations for local and country buses. Just surprised that it lasted until 2009.
Seems to make sense. RoadCar existed until 2005 when Stagecoach brought it out I also know that RoadCar used the main bus station in Grimsby but whether they had there own hub until 2009, however looking a 2006 map of Grimsby bus system there is no suggestion it was used by RoadCar then. I heard somewhere that it was used by Coaches for the last of its years. It is very surprising it survived the 90's and early 00's.
A follow up question from me.... Lincolnshire Road Car had a depot in Mablethorpe many moons ago. Is that where Grayscroft are currently based?Brighowgate was used extensively By R W Applebys right up to its demise in 2002, and beyond that time by Amvale Coaches. The site in latter years was mostly used for parking vehicles
