Brighton to Penzance

My daughter and a friend both with 16-25 railcards want to travel from Brighton to Penzance and back later this month. On the way back they want to break at Bodmin so that they can visit Tintagel - possibly camping there overnight. Seems to me the off peak return via Salisbury for £76.55 each may be the best option. Anyone got any other suggestions?

This is certainly a good option; the journey can of course indisputably be broken overnight on the return portion.

They could look at whether savings can be made through a ticket spitting website, but they would need to do two separate queries in order to do the overnight break of journey ( sites like Trainsplit do allow up to 99 minutes additional changing time to be specified, but that won't work for an overnight stay as required here).

Depends on how long they are staying at Penzance and what they are doing there, but a freedom of the South West 3 in 7 Rover might be an option along with a return to Cosham or maybe advance tickets to/fro Swindon.
