British Rail Ticket Stamper?

Hello all,

I've recently bought an old BR/Regional Railways ticket stamper.
Its blue, and has 'Dormy' on the front.
It also has a 'sign' logo above the date window.
The seller has meantioned that It will only make marks on thick card, and that it doesnt use ink.
Surely, it should mark tickets too?
Does it need ink to work on normal tickets?
If so, where can I buy the ink?

The seller has got it wrong slightly, I am afraid. 'Dormy' stampers used an ink ribbon, which if I remember correctly was contained around a metal cartridge, so if there isn't one fitted you could have problems, the way to find out is to remove the front screws at the rear I think.
