Does anybody know where in the North West of England I can buy the pocket books which list all the loco's/dmu's etc on the tracks? I've seen some listed on the web at transportdiversions.com but was wondering whether there are any places to buy on the high street.

Thanks in advance.

The ones at railway stations are more likely to stock them, the one at Carlisle does. You could also try the Ian Allan bookshops (there's one near Manchester Piccadilly) which have a wider selection.

The new combined volume Locos & Coaching Stock 2006 (combining all the pocket books into one) is now out.

It has an orange cover with a picture of 92001 on the front. Price: £14.95

And if the 'Combined Volume' mentioned by Sprinter is too expensive for you, then there's a cheaper version produced by the NREA called the Spotter's Companion which is due out any time now, priced £6.95 - not as detailed but still lists everything.
