NRE said:Major delays between Bournemouth and Southampton Central expected until 14:00
Incident created: 15/03/2012 06:40
Route affected: Poole, Bournemouth, Hinton Admiral, Brockenhurst, Southampton Central, Basingstoke and London Waterloo / Reading
TOC(s) affected: CrossCountry, South West Trains
Description: A broken down train is causing disruption at Hinton Admiral. Because of this, the following changes will apply until further notice:
- There are delays of up to 120 minutes between Bournemouth and Southampton Central.
- A supplementary bus service is running between Bournemouth and Southampton Central.
- CrossCountry and South West Trains passengers may use each other's services on reasonable routes.
From LDB, it looks worse than NRE is suggesting; XC have basically given up with Bournemouth and are turning trains at Southampton, and as far as I can tell eastbound SWT trains are actually queuing in Bournemouth.
Incident created at 06.40, and expected to last till 14.00? That's an awfully long time to deal with a dead train. Why is this disruption particularly severe?
EDIT: Accorting to SWT's Twitter feed, the dead train has already been Thunderbirded out of the way...
