Say a long journey of 4 split tickets.

Second train delayed causing a knock-on effect and means you be at least an hour late, maybe more.

All tickets are Standard singles no advances.

Can you take a more direct route and arrive on time or is it just a case of arrive late and claim delay repay?

One ticket is routed a certain way.

You can change the route of a specific ticket. The excess payable for this is half the difference between the different routes for a return ticket, or the full difference for a single ticket. This excess can be obtained onboard the train without penalty.

You can't change the points which you must pass via by virtue of the location of your splits. That is, unless you decide to abandon your journey entirely and simply return to your origin (in which case you are entitled to a full fee-free refund).

You may be able to change the split points if appropriate ticket acceptance has been put in place.

You could also ask the guard and they may accept the combination of tickets. They’d possibly be more inclined to do this if by accepting tickets would save their TOC paying out delay repay.

It depends on what ticket acceptance is in place and what you want to do

Can you provide details of the journey being made and the tickets being used?
