Capturing from Mini DV

I used to record with a sony dcr hc51e. A couple of years ago that broke while I was recapturing all my mini dv tapes. The tape heads in the camcorder broke and I believe it would cost a bit to get it repaired. Would I still be able to re capture my tapes if I bought another mini dv camcorder even if its not a sony one.

You should be able to use any MiniDV camcorder providing it records/plays standard DV not (or as well as) DVCAM. I sold a Sony hc18e a month or so back as I couldn't connect it to my laptop.
