Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I was wondering where I can find the details of a season ticket changeover calculator. When I changed my zone 1-5 annual oyster travel card at MYB they used some software which calculated how much extra I have to pay.

I need the same software to workout if it is worthwhile changing jobs.

Many thanks.

There is no publicly available software. AFAIK the instructions in the staff manual refer to calculation by hand.

A step-by-step guide of the calculation is in Section 5 of our Fares Guide.

As a rough guide.....

For an Annual ticket

Divide the cost of your season by 365 (366 for a leap year). Do the same for the ticket you want (using the prices from when your season started). Multiple both by the number of days remaining on your season. Subtract the new value from the current value. If the remainder is positive that's a refund due. If it's a negative figure you will owe more money.

Think you'll find the "software" in question is likely to be a spreadsheet someone's created. Plug in the relevant dates and prices and it spits out the amount to pay or refund.
