I think you may find that a number of people have concerns similar to those often expressed by nesw. It's certainly nothing to do with 'envy'.

How's the new venture in Newport going with Foxstar?

Nat used to park vehicles on that stand throughout most of the day, which didnt cause too much problems

Maybe the bloke has made mistakes but we have had others in South Wales shamrock st David's travel etc have all had had reputations but also had good loyalty from locals. Hopefully the Newport operations will go well and allow thus to prove he is redeeming himself etc

The TC has published that they are not taking any action against the licence of Snowdonia and Nick Siddaway retains his repute. The application for an increase in the Snowdonia licence appears to still be ‘under consideration’.

It must be quite expensive to run the Newport service commercially , those buses aren’t cheap?

They do seem to be carrying a fair number of passengers

The buses quoted above are likely to have had a bit of deprecation already and are likely to hold their value (or have lower rental charges if rented) so would appear to be a good compromise between cost and trying to give a good image. NAT had much newer buses on their Newport services (as well as older deckers).

Traveline still doesn’t have the timetable uploaded.

Traveline Wales rarely bother to upload timetables on time. The recent Traws changes were missing for nearly a month.

Allegedly they were bought for £125K each. It will be interesting to see what happens when a breakdown occurs...

I was reckoning around 80k each or about £700 per week leased. With fuel, drivers wages etc it does start to look very expensive. I’m guessing that Newport Council also want a departures fee for using the bus station?

If i'm not mistaken they already had B7RLEs operating under another one of their many brands.

It does appear an odd choice given the service has a large stand time and other stands have lower occupancy, almost as if it was allocated that stand as it's the furthest away from Newport Transport's services! To be fair the Severn Express isn't supposed to operate from that stand either as (according to the 'find your bus' posters in the bus station) it's supposed to be used by the X7 and nothing has changed since 2015!

The Severn Express IS the X7, surely? That's the number used as well as branding as far as I can see, anyway.

Are you sure about that? Sure it was given back to Wheelers after a period of time, pictures online show the bus is now white rather than blue or orange.

I do commend Rhys for giving things a bash though, it's something that people (myself included) would enjoy having the opportunity to do so if they ever have the disposable funds. Maybe one day...

No. The X7 is Bristol - Weston-super-Mare via almost everywhere in between. Before that it was used for Bristol - Newport and before that for many years was Bristol-Clevedon.

The number now associated with the Bristol-Newport Severn Express service is 7XP.

I doubt if Newport City Council are very keen on Cityfox as they're competing with their municipal operator.

Every operator pays 74p per departure.
