I leave Clapham at 11:25 and get to Waterloo 14:39 on 5 individual mainline trains, some being the same class. Some are diesel, some are electric. What route do I take?

Is there any doubling back involved? And does Waterloo East count as Waterloo?

There is no doubling back or waits at stations of more than 30 minutes. Waterloo East does not count. You travel through 9 consecutive stations on the diesel trains - all the rest are on the electric trains. No trains are special services such as railtours.

Well you had me fooled. I mean who would know that there was a tiny village called Clapham...

Quite a few people are aware of the presence of a station there! It's certainly in the index in my rail atlas, and National Rail's aware of it too ;).

Indeed, same here - been through it on the train more than once, and popped into the village by car too. Did a pretty big project on it too, back in the good ol' days of A-level Geography ;).
