I thought I would start this thread to keep track of where the 180s are! TOCs in brackets indicates that the unit is for that TOC but not yet in service.

Current Allocations
180101
180102
180103 - Northern
180104
180105 - (Grand Central)
180106 - Northern
180107
180108 - Northern
180109 - First Hull Trains (to be refurbished)
180110 - First Hull Trains (to be refurbished)
180111 - First Hull Trains (to leave Hull Trains when other refurbishments completed)
180112 - (Grand Central)
180113 - First Hull Trains (refurbished)
180114 - (First Hull Trains - in refurbishment)

My 2010 Predictions:
180105, 180112 - Grand Central
Others - NXEC
180109, 180110, 180113, 180114 - First Hull Trains

Livery Note: Blue = First Group, Magenta = First Group Dynamic Lines, Purple = Northern Rail

This is all very good except what of GU as they need 125mph trains for their services from Bradford...I also can't see 7 of em goin to NXEC...

Are First Great Western not intending to completely give up on Adelantes now then? I thought the plan was to totally drop them in favour of HSTs?

When are the remainder going to see service on the East Coast?

I'm sure he meant "This is all well and good except what about GU?" ;)

EDIT: FGW still have 180107? I've not seen it out and about with them since 2007!

Yup - their last HST is in refurb now from NXEC, and the powercars being re-engined. As soon as it's in service, the Adelantes are redundant.

I thought First Hull Trains were getting 5 180s instead of 4 for future services with the newly acquired paths?

There's no guarentee of that. Don't forget, we were supposed to be seeing the back of them many moons ago but it didn't happen.

But yes, once EC64 has been done in Kilmarnock and 43053+056 are finished in Brush, FGW will have something like 54 HST trailer sets and 119 power cars. All being well, it'll be here in April.

180110-180114 is five ;) 110, 111, 112, 113, 114

Clockshed apologises for any inconvenience cause through you having to correct Clockshed.

Although wouldn't 109 stay at Hull Trains given it's there already? I presume it's been refurbished with Kitchen etc. with 112 going to NXEC?

Nope, not refurbished yet. The first two are still in in refurbishment. All that's happened (AFAIK) is a microwave oven installed, and provision for hot drinks. All to be taken out quickly again on the end of the lease according to fHT last on-board magazine that was on their site.

But yes it makes more sense for 109 to stay at fHT and 110 to go wherever.

I just thought it would make sense to keep sets in consecutive order.

Why? Are they not planning on keeping them very long?

The 180s that fHT are using not refurbished have had this done to them; nothing else can be done without a refit.

They would have three return services so i'm assuming 2 sets could work them e.g.
1 at Bradford (2 Unit)
1 at London KX (1 Unit)
1 at Bradford (2 Unit)
1 at London KX (1 Unit)
1 at Bradford (2 Unit)
1 at London KX (1 Unit)

etc...

So GC/GU are going to need at least 4 minimum in the end (I think they would need 5 though).
Let the battle commence between GC/GU and NXEC for the 180s!

I've also heard this is true and it's for the 3 FGW currently have.
Don't believe it though.

But if no-one is using them, and Northern only intend on short term lease like their current sets, whats the possibility of the Leasing Co to say no? Surley its better to have a unit on lease, earning money, and operational, rather than sat in a depot not earning anything, and not in use? (Which could lead to problems later on, when they are required?)
