314207 is back in service and was on Cathcart duties both yesterday and today. Didn't see 314206 or 314211 on either day but the rest were around.

Is this common practice or does this mean it's the end for these units?
All quite normal for stabled AC traction. you press auxilaries set, the aux compressor charges the pan reservior, then the pan goes up, then all the rest of the main auxilaries kick in.

Was 314211 definitely at Shields? I thought 314204/211/212 were all stored at Yoker. 314207 was at Yoker but came back to life, along with 211, when the 385s had the brake problem. A few weeks later 204 and 211 went to Yoker.

I'm not local to the area by any stretch of the imagination, but according to my notes 204 + 212 + 213 are the ones currently stood down at Yoker. 212 went and never came back, 207 and 213 went then came back, then finally and most recently 204 and 213 went and probably won't come back.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, yes I've got mixed up between 211 and 213. The situation is exactly as you describe above.

Scotrail have tweeted that from today there will be only 29 remaining services operated by 314 units, down from 63. This number will continue to decline.

Worth noting that this is seemingly referring to Inverclyde services only. I imagine they're still operating more than 29 services a day on the Cathcart Circle, Neilston, Newton and Paisley Canal routes:
Good news for Inverclyde - we've begun retiring our Class 314 fleet!
From today they'll only operate 29 services a day, down from the current 63.
As more are withdrawn, this'll reach zero! https://t.co/KAJmxau0Xs

At least one of the Newton via Maxwell Park diagrams is a 380 today so withdrawal of the 314s would appear to have started on this line too.

Commute into Glasgow on that line - 380s becoming more common would certainly be welcome.

Noticed the 07:57 from Glasgow Central to Newton on weekdays has gone over to Class 380s recently. Was always a 314 up until a few weeks ago.

Yep. The one I saw going back and forth was even a 4 car, which I don’t recall seeing before on the circle line outside of Hampden events. Noticeably less 314s today. I’m interested to see what diagrams the 380s appear on tomorrow

380105 is currently on the 20:36 to Newton. 380107 was on the 16:08 to Newton earlier.

Poster on the scot-rail forum noted that they seem to have been alternating between Newton and Neilston services all day.

Currently on 314 216 GLC -Muirend. 209 on the Newton. Spotted one on the Canal. 201 failed due to a door fault Friday night, wonder if it’s curtains for that unit?

Think it’s been mentioned earlier on this thread that 201 was expected to be one of the last units withdrawn. That being said, the fact 207 is still in service seems to indicate that the withdrawal schedule isn’t going exactly to plan.

314211 - not worked since 28-11

I notice the 1645 and 1731 Glasgow Central to Newton services are now diagrammed for 4 car Class 380s. These diagrams were previously carried out by 314s before the timetable change.

Yes I saw the empties back from Newton off the 1731 ex-Central which was the 380. The former 318 diagram that was on the Neilston line is also a 380/1. Much of the Neilston peak is still 6 car 314s, I think the diagrams have been straight swaps from other types to be 380s, no changes to workings at Central it would seem.

There's still the lingering question of maintaining current peak capacity (at least). Neilston headshunt will only take a 4 car 380 max, so either they get some more 318/320s on the route from somewhere, or they stick a crossover in advance of Neilston station to get some 6 car 380/385s up there and avoid the headshunt altogether.

Think when Lanark goes to 385 this is where the 318/320 6 car peak services will come from

211 in Central tonight, just caught it departing double-headed with another 314 to Shields. ‘Not in Service’ on the blind

I think it maybe game over for 206, as dont think it had a bogie change the last time at Springburn
207 must be coming close as well to being stopped
203 is another that must be on borrowed time

Just seen two Carmine and Cream livered 314s sitting pan down at Shields Road. Couldn’t identify the units beyond their livery.

Bizarrely most trains to Neilston are four car 380s now but there's still a 314 to Gourock all day and one to Wemyss Bay as well. Also half the Glasgow to Edinburgh via Cumbernauld trains are 380s. No doubt they will replace 314s once more 385s arrive.

Noticed a few in Central today. 1635 to Neilston was a 314. Travelled on 205 yesterday evening to Muirend. I think quite a few are still on the Canal route too. Wonder how long they'll hold out?

ScotRail certainly seem to be proud of the fact they're withdrawing the 314s from service. They've just tweeted their 'only 29 services done by 314s, down from 63' quote again.
