314s to Motherwell via King's Park were more to do with regular diversions. Can't remember a regular service with them but happy to be corrected.

Pretty sure there was a service hourly but maybe with 303s

Seems a bit of a shortage just now. 205 is out still in it’s interesting graffiti livery.

At least 1 Larkhall service was worked by a 314 when similar diversions took place in September 2018: https://flic.kr/p/2auhctj

Believe so; don't recall Paisley Canal being mentioned as a 385 route.

It would be nice to keep a 314 for this route.

Why simply because the squeaks, bumps and screeching of brakes provides an 18 minute vintage traction experience. Who needs plug sockets and WiFi are when you can enjoy the views of Hawkhead Oil Terminal sidings and that nice, almost rustic stretch between Crookston and Hawkhead? Better still, let's get the 303 back from Bo'ness for the Paisley Canal route and get a snack/drinks trolley on board.

Ah, so enthusiast rose-tinted glasses wanting a 20th century heritage journey rather than a modern public transport system.

I’m completely in favour of a modern public transport system but a short heritage jaunt is always beneficial for lowering one’s blood pressure.

    Nice? Perhaps.

    Practical? Perhaps not.

With more 385s and 320/4s entering service, the withdrawal of more 314s can't be too far away.

I use the Paisley Canal line most mornings for my commute. Always preferred the 314s to the 380s. They seem lighter and more metro like. Also, I seldom get a seat on the train as I am travelling from Mosspark (2 stops till Central) and the 314s seem to have more space for standing.

The doors on the 314s are faster than the 380s so they have the edge on stopping trains, depite the latter being more powerful. In my limited experience the 314s seem to keep time better on the Gourock line than the 380s.

I was travelling north up the M1 early yesterday morning (Tuesday 5 March) and saw a Strathclyde Maroon & Cream liveried 314 driving car on a low loader heading south around Mansfield/Nottingham. I assume it was heading possibly to EMR at Kingsbury on its final trip. Unfortunately I was unable to get its number.

Would love to see a photo of this! Also sad though that they are finally being scrapped. Weird to think that 314s are that far down south. Don’t think they’ve ever made it out of Scotland lol

I think one of the 314s went to the works at either Horwich or Wolverton in England during the early 1980s. Nowhere else apart from being built at BREL York Works.

A couple of 314 moves next week - 204 runs Yoker to Glasgow Works for component recovery on Wednesday and 201 and 206 are planned to go from Shields to Newport Docks for scrap on Thursday.

I thought 201 might have been in with a shot of preservation. I remember being on it at the tail end of last year when the doors failed and we all had to get off. It was an ominous sign. Wonder when the last run will be? I’m still having a semi-regular service via Cathcart Circle and off peak Neilston runs
