So at least 5 serviceable units.

Still...not a lot of them left then.

Looks like 207/210 are still operational as 210 was out today. Maybe rotating the last units

203 certainly had a new pantograph but also sounded like it had a wheel flat when I was on it on Friday.

In all the years I travelled on 314s, I don't think I've ever heard a flat on one.

Interesting that they are fitting a new pantograph considering the remaining units likely haven't too long to go.

Perhaps there may be plans to preserve 314203 given it retains one of the original coaches of a 507.

I think 314 201 was originally slated to be set aside for potential preservation, now it's gone I'm not sure if Angel Trains even plan to set aside a unit for preservation now.

Which units are more likely to remain serviceable until December and which are on their last legs (wheels)?

The 507 end of 203 is a far nicer interior than the rest of unit/fleet pity the 507 interior and better seating designs similar to that of the 313s weren’t pursued.....probably too late now!

Kind of ironic it’s the crash damaged one that will be one of the last to go. Would I be right in saying that’s the only one that’s suffered anything more than a shunting bump?

208 and 212 got flooded at Glasgow Central low level upto window level if you can count that. There was also one derailed early on at Jordanhill.

Might just be a new pantograph carbon (ie the bit that makes contact with the wires) as they are relatively easy to replace and would likely be done so periodically through wear and tear anyway.

A pantograph carbon strip I can understand, yes.

A pair of 314s had a nasty smash with a 303 in the tunnel at Bridgeton Central. I think it was 314210. The cab was badly damaged and the guard was unfortunately killed. There's a picture of it at Glasgow works, incorrectly captioned as 314203.

Correct it was 210 which was coupled to 211 at the time. 303 involved was 026.

Its a full new pantograph, not just the head.

ScotRail own the 314 fleet outright now. Seemingly part of the compensation from Angel for the HST delays. So it'll be up to ScotRail whether any get preserved I imagine.

I'd argue that it's more likely one will be set aside at the very least.
