There’s another move to Wolverton booked for 20/12/17. I take it the units travel there under their own power?

Is there any pattern to the withdrawals, such as mileage or date of next exam? I know 840 was damaged but I wondered how next ones for the chop (I assume) are decided in these situations.

That is correct. It should be 315 850 and 860 going tomorrow - although I did see 850 attached to 825 this evening passing through Gidea Park so I will see what happens. Departing Ilford at 14.15.

I always wondered whether they also maintain a log of faults so keep the more reliable units until the end.

Certainly. Most fleets have a rogue unit somewhere. There was a 317 at Ilford that nearly everyone struggled to diagnose its faults.

That's why I wondered as my personal nemesis units haven't gone yet. (Although I guess not many have!)

Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
315825+315850 was my train a few days ago, never realised it would be my last journey on that unit.
How do they decide which train they want to take next?

Hoping 841 and 845 stay to the end, they're absolutely lovely units.

Good trains, but ‘lovely’ is a novel description.

As for choosing which unit is next for the chop, post #94 is a clue.

If you get to read the units repair log books they can be highly amusing, faults reported , signed as repaired , same fault reported again and again until fitter gets sent to ride on it , if we have issues on final test with components we haven’t touched sometimes a quick look through book in the cab can give you an on-site into problems it’s been having for a while

I get to read them almost every day. Always good to know what to expect.

How long are they likely to stay at Wolverton until they are sent to Booths? (Barring any class 442-esque reprieve ;) lol)

Well there is at least one unit which will have a reprieve of sorts...

Did the move to Wolverton go ahead today? Because there were some track issues this afternoon in the Stratford area.

No, it was cancelled due to a broken rail at SRA. Planned in for Friday 9th March now.

Before they leave is it just the seat cushions removed or do they rob any useful parts like the doors between carriages for example or stuff from buried cabs?

I think at least the first few 315s to leave for Wolverton had their external destination displays removed. London Overground had two 315s still with blinds (315806 and 315813) which were replaced not long after the first TfL Rail withdrawals.

I picked a good day to go 315 bashing today, as 345 fleet grounded!! Can report the following pairs:

838 + 839
837 + 853
819 + 830
829 + 824
856 + 834
849 + 845

Got bored going back and forth, so I'm sure I missed a few after moving on to 317s!

Also got 820+854 and 843+859 on that list today.

Is 841+846 still out together as I want to cop 841 again. Particularly very fond of that unit.
