507+508 were out too but they were swapped out for the 1058 LST-CBG. They seem to be getting much more keen to swap them out.339 340
0857 Stansted A - Liv St this morning
Tiger showing 8 coaches on the 1654 to Stansted ..so presume the 317 pair still out.507+508 were out too but they were swapped out for the 1058 LST-CBG. They seem to be getting much more keen to swap them out.
317504 has done 5G44 to Cambridge so presumably it's off to the graveyard tomorrow.
Ie on Cambridge to London liverpool Street for some time. When normally booked on a week day.317343 has just returned to Ilford E.M.U.D Depot despite having a week at Cambridge with 317502.
On the 5H54 1915 Cambridge to London liverpool Street move.
Possibly 317502 is also Ely Bound.
However Monday 27th June 2022.
Excluding strikes, bank holidays, engineering works etc. Has seen the first time ever during normal workings that in passenger service a 317 Hasant been in revenue earning service.
Either today or end of life now.
Have the 317s finished their working life before withdrawal??
Locomotive for today's move still hasn't left Derby. Maybe the ely moves are just Wednesday and Thursday.STP 28/06 1411 Cambridge TRSMD - Ely

I wouldn't rule out the odd 317 working or two in the coming weeks...but it is looking ominous now! How long before driver licence for them runs out due to not driving them for a while?317343 has just returned to Ilford E.M.U.D Depot despite having a week at Cambridge with 317502.

6 months plenty of time. Same here but don't turn up and expect one.I wouldn't rule out the odd 317 working or two in the coming weeks...but it is looking ominous now! How long before driver licence for them runs out due to not driving them for a while?
Ie 317 West side6 months plenty of time. Same here but don't turn up and expect one.
Maybe a few trips then replaced on day with a 720. Or on Stansted no 745. Or 720.
However as mentioned on the 720 thread a 720 into service today to release another 720 to replace a 317 east side. Hence this week the urgent rush to replace. But sad as another era ends ie 317 and no farewell tour. Instead expect a rare odd use on the Stansted.
Im on way to liverpool street now (trying out the Liz line on the way), thats bad news if there are no 317s. Hopefully i see the 315s and maybe 321/2s later.I haven’t seen any 317s out, and I’ve been around Liverpool Street, Stratford and Tottenham Hale since 9am
Should be a pair of 32x on the 1302 Ipswich. Check Tiger Worldline Global which show departures from Liverpool Street and Stratford, and you’ll be able to identify legacy stock by the number of carriages.Im on way to liverpool street now (trying out the Liz line on the way), thats bad news if there are no 317s. correct, 321313/325 on 1302. 1402 from LST should have 321903/2321307/321305 and 321902/321302 on 1436 from LST in the next couple of hoursShould be a pair of 32x on the 1302 Ipswich. I believe 720585 was supposed to be covering a 317 diagram today (it was a 317 several weeks ago), although it turned up as 560. Annoying for me as I needed the former!correct, 321313/325 on 1302. 1402 from LST should have 321903/2321307/321305 and 321902/321302 on 1436 from LST in the next couple of hours
No 317's out today at all from what I can see
Traction knowledge last six months and I have seen trainees on them until quite recently.I wouldn't rule out the odd 317 working or two in the coming weeks...but it is looking ominous now! How long before driver licence for them runs out due to not driving them for a while?
A fanfare only draws attention to the fact their old trains have limped on into mid 2022. They should have been gone by about 2019.Shame that Greater Anglia has had literally zero interest in organising any sort of farewell.
Were they really supposed to be gone that long ago? I've lost track. Either way, plenty of other trains that have outlasted their welcome have had a farewell run. As an example, I'd expect Merseyrail to give the 507/508 a proper send off. The 313s and 455s had farewell tours.A fanfare only draws attention to the fact their old trains have limped on into mid 2022. They should have been gone by about 2019.
Quite - it seems like the 745s are the problematic fleet at the moment - the Aventras are thriving today, with the vast majority of East sets in pairs (there was an obscene number of singles some months back)Class 720 reliability is improving according to Modern Railways TIN watch. GA seem more interested in getting the new fleet going. There were no farewells for the Class 90's or Class 360's. I would imagine future publicity events will be focused on a 'faster' timetable.
The Class 90s and 360s were withdrawn from GA service during the pandemic which ruled out any tours, special workings etc. Hopefully we'll see some specials over the GA network for the 317 or 321 (and parts of it for the 315s when they are retired from TFL)Class 720 reliability is improving according to Modern Railways TIN watch. Got 12 car on 17.12 liv St to Clacton including a 322 in the middle. Apologies, got no numbersShould be a pair of 32x on the 1302 Ipswich. Check Tiger Worldline Global which show departures from Liverpool Street and Stratford, and you’ll be able to identify legacy stock by the number of carriages.
No need to apologise to me; I have no interest in the old stuff whatsoever Happy to see the 317s finally withdrawn if that’s what’s happened, as I often turn up at Liverpool Street with battery dying fast, and was sick of having nowhere to charge it onboard.Got 12 car on 17.12 liv St to Clacton including a 322 in the middle. Looking like they have. This is definitely true. It's unfortunate that the worst trains are those to Hertford East which can only be single class 720s. Logically they would rework the diagrams so that they are self contained and put pairs of 317s on there until the platforms are lengthened at Hertford. I know I've said this before but imagine the chaos if Covid had not happened. How have they got this so badly wrong?Especially as services are now busy.
