The culture for revenue guards on SWT/SWR is markedly different from other TOCs - there is a very strong customer service leaning.
Not on my regular trains with SWR there isn’t. Middle cab and stay there mob.

Wait the guards do announcements? I thought they were automated... Although I usually go with Chiltern as the seats are nicer in my opinion so I may be getting the announcements confused!

Fully agreed, they cannot be bothered near passengers anymore now the offices are being removed. Also, SWR guards are becoming extremely unpleasant, not quite so rude as CrossCountry ones but definitely getting there!

I feel the Glass compartment adds a lot to customer service and also if I was an old woman or maybe a very nervous traveller I’d feel much better travelling if sitting by the guard compartment with a guard in. Shame LM didn’t want to use them, even bigger shame they’re being removed from the Desiros which DO use them
