Class 365s should be retained by GTR, to allow for 387s to cover for unavailable Class 800 series trains

They should be diverted to GWR to assist and 365s left in use until Azuma problem resolved 8-)
GWR don’t operate Azuma
GN are already using additional 387’s from Gatex this week to run 12 cars between KGX-PBO

OK Hitachi 800 series.

The 387's could have been diverted to assist GWR is my point with a few 365's kept in use for the time it takes to fix the 800 issue but how dare i suggest anything that is common sense and assisst the passenger thats not what the railway of today is here for.

GWR are receiving 387’s from C2C to assist and GN are running longer trains to assist LNER.
This all helps the passengers.

who is going to pay for the extended lease of the additional 365’s - certainly not the customer so why should a TOC that has nothing to do with the issue pay for someone else’s problem

Because they would sub-lease 387s to GWR, and DfT have the power to order them to do so, if required. Ultimately, Hitachi/Agility should be paying.

The government aka me and you are paying for it all now anyhow so thats an irrelevant argument. It should be about the national interest and as Chris Heaton Harris said

The rail industry has also been asked to set out a plan for how it will manage capacity, by moving rolling stock and proposing where alternative trains can be sourced. These will be brought into service as safely and quickly as possible.
This is a simple short solution whilst GN drivers still have traction knowledge and for clarity im only suggestion the few sets that are left are kept on not a wholesale reinstatement of 365's.

But keeping on trains past the end of the lease will require extra funds that will have to be sanctioned by the government, which they haven’t been. Any additional costs would be borne by the taxpayer- only a small percentage of that are rail passengers.
As already stated, GN are running longer trains using freed up gatex stock to assist LNER and C2C are providing additional stock for GWR.

Perhaps the simple explanation is that the c2c stock gives them enough for what they need to keep a basic service going, and trying to replicate the full timetable (and associated logistics) is not deemed necessary for a temporary situation when passenger numbers are already diminished.

Are the 365s now owned by the taxpAyers (Rosco of last resort) so they would be leasing of themselves?

May need a citation for this but I read that the 365s have gone back to Eversholt?
