Not sure if there is already a thread on this subject (admins, feel free to merge if this is the case!)

Scotrail have now commenced work on refreshing the Class 380 fleet ahead of their 10 year anniversary.

Changes include:
New Flooring
New seat upholstery including new priority seating fabric (similar to what is found on the 385s)
General repairs to tables, armrests, bins and handrails as well as an exterior paint refresh.

I've made this thread solely to keep track of what units have been done. A unit should be released every 2 weeks or so.

Image shows the disabled toilet area on a newly refreshed Class 380.

If anyone could post up if they see one of the refreshed units, just reply so I can list what ones have been done.

That press release claims 380s work the North Berwick branch. I thought that was 385-worked now? I haven't seen a 380 in Edinburgh for ages.

A couple of them run down during the day. Pretty sure it's to retain the knowledge.

380s do run scheduled services into Edinburgh during the day. The Carstairs services are mainly 380, with the Shotts line having one 4 car 380 to replace the previous double 156.

One diagram starts in the morning on the 06:47 North Berwick - Edinburgh before heading through to Glasgow on the 07:41. That then works the Carstairs services all day.

There is also a 4 car 380 alternating between North Berwick and Dunbar all day. Anything on RTT down North Berwick as a 4 car should be a 380.

Ah, right, OK. I'll tell my son, he likes them. :)

What’s the difference between the normal lights and the LED ones in 015?

I've not been on a 380, but not a bad outcome compared to a 465 interior which I believe still have their Network Southeast 1992 flooring !! ( as of my 2016 travels )

It'd make sense if there was, however it wasn't specified. The article only specified some of what was going to happen with the refresh. If anyone catches 380007 then let us know what's changed internally.

380007 workings today:
2G02 - 06:25 Gourock to Glasgow Central
2M78 07:45 Glasgow Central - Newton via Shawlands
2P09 08:20 Newton - Glasgow Central via Queen's Park
2I23 09:16 Cathcart Circle
2O26 09:51 Cathcart Circle
2G65 11:38 Glasgow Central - Gourock
2G42 12:38 Gourock - Glasgow Central
2G53 13:36 Glasgow Central - Gourock
2G54 14:38 Gourock - Glasgow Central
1G31 17:27 Glasgow Central - Gourock (paired with 380012)
1G76 18:21 Gourock - Glasgow Central
1K57 19:30 Glasgow Central - Ayr
5K57 20:24 Ayr - Ayr C.S.D.

10 years in front line service takes its toll, though other than worn seat fabrics and the still 'iffy' ride quality they've not aged too badly.

Anyone know what routes 102 and 105 operate. Interested to see the hybrid seats

They operate all 380 operated routes:

Glasgow - Ayr/Ardrossan/Largs
Glasgow - Gourock/Wemyss Bay
Glasgow - Neilston/Newton & Cathcart Circle
Edinburgh - Glasgow via Shotts
Edinburgh - Glasgow via Carstairs
Edinburgh - North Berwick/Dunbar

If you are after specific units, just look on RTT and check services on those routes

380007 workings today (25/09/2020):

Today’s workings may be subject to change due to signalling problems at Glengarnock

5T00 - 05:02 Ayr CSD to Largs
1T00 06:42 Largs to Kilwinning (vice Glasgow Central due to signalling problems)
2T03 07:53 Kilwinning to Largs
1T36 09:53 Largs to Paisley Gilmour Street
2K69 10:44 Paisley Gilmour Street to Ayr
5K69 11:37 Ayr to Ayr C.S.D.

Does anyone know if another unit has gone into Shields Road TMD for the refurbishment?

Looks like they got the diagrams back in place after what happened with the signalling problems this morning?

They certainly have nice interiors that get all the fundamentals right. A refresh will be very welcome, and keep them pleasant to travel in. I certainly think they're better than the 385s.

I definitely agree! I took a good look at the 380s I was on yesterday. Generally still in a decent condition, but some poles have bits chipped away at the bottom, the tables have dents in the edges and some of the seat coverings are threadbare, mainly the window seats however! Externally they aren't too bad, but some of them look a bit more worn than others.
