I tweeted VT about this a while back but the tweeter clearly didn't know as I was told they are 'Go Faster stripes'. :)

When I pointed out that XC have them on both doors, I recieved the reply 'XC have double go faster stripes?? That's not fair!' (Or something along those lines).

Someone on here must know the answer!

I think a while back VT replaced the doors, and the outside was replaced with a gray color. Unsure about inside

I think the doors are the same inside and out-the stripey door had stripes outside too.

The striped doors are being replaced with doors that have no stripes. All sets are having all their doors refurbed at Edge Hill. (Not sure about 154-157 with them being fairly new). Some sets are or were runnning round with only one side done but will all eventually be done.

They're not repaints. They are replacing them. Whether they're brand new or re-conditioned though I'm not 100% certain. I'm taking an educated guess that they and the electricals and runners are new.

Slightly off topic but dis anyone else this Crosscountry Voyager when it had Virgin stripe doors at the start of this year?

I'm guessing, lazy cascade or tearing vinyl's?

Certainly not the first, doubt it's the second, bet it's a replacement door that was available at the time, given both fleets are serviced at the same place.

Ok, what happened to it? Ripped off?

And how did they get hold of that replacement door, out of that deceased 2 car voyager?

I do enjoy it when people on social media have a bit of fun, but in this case if the stripes are going then does that mean the trains will be going slower?!

Not sure if this is similar but there is a Thomas Cook A330 flying out of Manchester which has red bits off a Virgin A330 engine cowling on it. Apparently airlines will share parts when necessary.

I've heard that the Grey Doors are to meet DDA compliance. Apparently the stripy ones weren't high enough contrast with the body side silver.

The 2 car super voyager that is going to reenter service soon after 2 5 car XC super voyagers give up a car each?

I would think that Bombardier have a small stock of spare doors for as and when components wear out. Lacking one with the appropriate vinyl, they'll have fitted whatever they had available to them at the time to return the unit to service.

The two end cars of 221144 have all their doors intact.

I heard that too, but it isn't a reason to replace the doors, just to paint them. I'd be interested in why they needed replacing.

Just Wear and tear at a guess. Was told it was to increase reliability. Many other items on the train have been replaced over the years such as lighting. It's the internal bits that you can't see behind the panels that have been replaced too.
