Afternoon,

Could anybody tell me if there are any 390s on the Birmingham to Glasgow/Edinburgh routes on Sunday?

There was a sticky on the diagrams, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

The only one I know is a 390 booked for 1S39 0720 Birmingham to Glasgow on a weekday. I caught this service in August last year, but 221112 turned up!

Thank you!

According to the latest Today's Railways UK, 11% of Birmingham-Scotland trains on Sundays are booked for a 390 (both sub-classes), which works out at 3 by my maths, however it doesn't list them :|, but it does look like just the one diagram.

As for the other days, roughly a 1/5 on M-F (inc. all Euston-Brum-Scotland) and 1/4 on Saturday are booked 390s. Sorry I can't help further.

Also, apparently the 1020 Brum-Edinburgh and 1451 return is 2 x 221 on a Sunday, so that isn't likely to be a Pendo.

The best way to work it out is the starting point of the ECS - if it comes from Oxley it is a 390, if it comes from Barton under Needwood it is a 221. This can be done on Realtimetrains.

On Sunday 2 June, Oxley puts out two 390s for northbound trains from Birmingham
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sea...edule_type=0&show_wtt=1&show_var=1&show_stp=1

The first works 1P92 to Preston (0845 from Birmingham New Street)
The second works 1S35 to Glasgow (0920 from Birmingham New Street)

Central Rivers sends out 221s for other northbound trains
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sea...edule_type=0&show_wtt=1&show_var=1&show_stp=1

The ones from Glasgow aren't quite as easy but if you trace the diagrams, it should be clear from where it ends the day as to whether it is 221 or 390.

No worries, thanks for your help. I'm looking specifically for a Pendolino in fairness; I travel on Voyagers on an almost daily basis (well, XC ones anyway!), so I'm looking for a change! I know they're more or less similar inside, but even so.

Ah that's a good idea, I use Real Time Trains daily anyway! Thanks for this! Will hopefully manage a ride on one from Birmingham to Preston :)
