I travelled down to London last week and went on my first ever couple of Javelins! I was really impressed with both unrefurbed and refurbed!

395025 was the unrefurbed one I got down to Kent and 395007 was the refurbed one I catched on the way back to London.

This press release says the following:
395015 is the unit in the 'new' livery (its just some vinyl stickering, no repainting has been done)

I’m intrigued to see the PIS.
The original plan would've seen PIS, CCTV & onboard software upgraded at once (to bring the units closer to the 80x software & camera wise) - however any upgraded units would be incompatible with non upgraded ones, I wonder if that element has been dropped or is yet to come as 395015 has worked with other units.

Is the 'new' livery including a stripe down the side? We overlook HS1 and I noticed a 395 with a silver strip below the windowline recently, wasn't sure if my eyes were deceiving me.

The information about the new livery hasn't been very clear I think. I assumed that the Railway 200 livery with all its special decals was a one-off - is that livery going to be put on the rest of the fleet? And if it is, will it be the full R200 livery or just the silver stripe and doors with the new window band?

The railway 200 branding is unique to Unit 15 with the rest going gaining all the other branding, including the bizarre “welcome” vinyls inside the doors.

By chance I travelled in the special unit this evening. The new seat covers look quite smart, with their shades of blue.

Here is an image of the replacement LCD PIS being rolled out now that the trains have had the seat cover and grab pole refresh:

As you can see in the background there are also TV style information screens, four per carriage.

I see they still don’t have anyone doing real software design work for their Passenger information systems. 707s entered service with a slick recoloured version of the Thameslink setup and it was replaced about two months later with the current incoherence abomination. Looks like this will be equally poorly executed.

The Northern one is also pretty amateur, as is the new TfW one. One can hope that a central GBR body will take a serious look at this sort of thing (and TVM user interfaces, and other customer facing IT matters) as it really is very poor compared with most of Europe pretty much across the board.
