I am aware that at a time Night Riviera Class 57s ran extra services with Mark 3 coaches. What sort of coaches were they (HST trailers or NR seated coaches?), and what services did they run?

The coaches themselves were the ordinary Day Coaches from the Night Riviera. It would usually work down to Penzance with the normal BFO/BUO + TSO + RFM combination, although sometimes it would have an additional vehicle added which often would be the spare BFO. The service would then carry out it's usual reversal in Penzance to Long Rock depot where the sleeper vehicles would be detached, 57 ran around (if it needed it), any additional vehicles added (TSO/BFO or RFM) and run empty to Par to start a Par to Exeter / Plymouth to Exeter service. The return worked a through Exeter to Penzance service.

I can't remember the times of the service though, although I'm sure @co-tr-paul will be able to / fill in the blanks / add any info I've got wrong.

Can't link but a full listing of locos, dates, times etc can be found on the RMWeb site under the Railways of Cornwall Specialist section. Should come up on Google too. Class 57 Cornish Locals. There is a post for each year.

For what it's worth, HST trailers can't be loco-hauled in normal passenger service except by an HST power car, as they use a different type of wiring & coupling to standard MK3 LHCS. They can of course be moved by normal locos using a translator or barrier vehicle, but that would be an empty stock move. :)

You're forgetting history.......the WR had no problem running an HST trailer rake in service hauled by a 50 or 47 and a couple of barrier/generator coaches
