I am currently about half a mile from a line where trains have to sound their horns for a foot crossing, and just heard a horn that sounded like one that belongs to a HST, however, aside from Multiple Units, only Class 59/60/66s run on the line? Do any of these classes have similar horn sounds to a HST or was I hearing things?

It depends, some trains have totally different horns, even in the same class, cos when there is a pigeon or crow or something jammed in it, it will make a bit of a different noise.
