It was 68002 that ran from wembley to stourbridge and return .

It came up for noise testing.

The 68s have a very deep base sound very similar to a GE dash 9 when pulling away , i filmed the 68 arriving at the station and i was there over at the rear on the car park next to the houses filming with video cam ( which i will upload soon on youtube ) ,and i think the people who moan now are not going like the 68s with there deep base /rumble sound they make !
The 68 revved its engine several times for the tests and also ran up & down the depot siding ,all the time staff monitoring the noise levels with microphones .

It has Very nice sound though , from railfans point of view that is :D

Very nice, better shots that the ones I got at a cramped Crewe Depot  LED lights are not affected much with still shots I noticed, compared to some video's I've seen anyway

Good job it doesn't sound too much alike though, otherwise the neighbours would really have something to moan about....;)

Nice pictures :)

At the same time 68012 5K68 was on its way from Wembley LMD (09.50 am
to Kidderminster C.H.S (13.57pm ) with a Driver Training turn.

68012 slowly creeps through Kidderminster station then gets the feather , and the CAT Roars in to life to cross over in to the siding.

DRS Class 68 No. 68007 Valiant passes the hamlet of Crownthorpe, north of Wymondham with the 11.00 Dereham to Wymondham Abbey on Sunday 28th December 2014. This was the first time a class 68 had visited a preserved railway, which resulted in excellent passenger numbers on the day.

The 68s do seem to make a good sound, much better than the 67s anyway. One has been rumbling through Gerrards Cross tunnel just behind the 10:05 Bicester North service on weekdays lately with the Banbury set.

Class 68 no. 68 006 'Daring' running as 679L Carlisle N.Y. to Shap Summit Quarry passing Tebay North this morning. These are great looking Locos and a lot more photogenic than the 66's.

She is about 6-8 foot past, you've no idea how close she walked to the ladder when alongside.

How close is too close when alongside it?

Like most people today in a rush to get from A to B with tunnel vision!
Looks like shes on the phone as well!

You have to say my Brother does take some very good photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought in today's world of "The health & safety people " that to use a ladder at work was a no no .

This guy was by a busy main line (and it was busy with extra south bound freight Monday ) were train pass through at around 80mph with hardly any warning , There was no one to hold the ladder , the area was not cordoned off and has you can see the women with the mobile just missed walking in to him!

And i get told off some times for using a tripod on the end of a platform !

68011 is in regular use on (1G25) 10.45am from London Daily.

Heres a few of 68014 on the 0J68 1300 Banbury to Stourbridge Jn Depot taken at Rowley Regis today @ 14:29. After just seeing it go to Banbury late Morning at my Moms I thought I'll get it coming back! 014 had to wait in the goods loop for a few mins to let the all stations stopper pass!

Heres a few from Bank Holiday Monday @ B'ham Moor Street & Snow Hill. Have to say it was a good day to go up on a day off work! I had 3 68s in one day plus 2 hauls with one window bash through the tunnel and to Solihull on the blue n grey stock!

I do like the sound they make, reminds me of a Warship and Western!

Enjoy!

Christopher

The 5J61 1955 Birmingham Moor Street to Stourbridge Jn Depot ECS has just stopped over road bridges A4123 and Pool lane in Oldbury for unknown reason. 68013's engine was still running so the problem must have been with the stock.
By the time i got there after a phone call from my mother, 5 mins later 013 was on her way to Rowley Regis

Thanks Mom for the tip off

Christopher

For those that haven't heard the noise they make, video of a few Class 68 'departures' on 4th April (my first ever YouTube video upload):

(with a bonus 67 as well)

EDIT: finally got the embedding to work.... :)

What a great noise! Does the 68 not look good in any livery? Think it is probably the first great engine in decades. Can't wait to have a go on one.

The first clip is 'private' on YouTube - second one is OK (and nice content :))

By the way, if you want clips to appear in an embedded player on the forum, put the final part of the YouTube URL between tags like this - (youtube)?v=zbth5g_j5pc(/youtube) - with the () replaced with [], of course.

....but on devices without Flash support (like recent versions of Android) the embedded player doesn't work - aargh!
