Yes, but isn't it operationally a better way of increasing capacity at Ipswich station by not having units stabling for up to 20 minutes in platforms and having to cross over the main running lines. The Ipswich stopper creates a pathing headache as it has to run wrong line through Ipswich Tunnel before crossing to the up main> This is one of the services that slows down the Nin90 down service through Ipswich.
For those of us unfamiliar with Ipswich layout, why does the stopper have to run wrong line through the tunnel?

It’s not a rumour. One of the franchise obligations in the bid was to extend the Ipswich stopper to Norwich. Like the Liverpool St - Lowestoft through service, there is a realistic chance it never happens and get silently axed.

The rumour is around what (if any) stock will operate it.

We all know it is part of the franchise agreement.

Actually..i have been corrected...apparently the Ipswich stopper to London has been retimed to depart 11.48 to avoid 'slowing down' the Norwich in 90. To the delight of many it now has 6 min waiting time at Colchester instead. Lol.

Is my reading of the new 07.40 NRW to LST diagram correct? It ends up eventually doing the 17:30 NRW to LST..then a couple of LST to SSD (Stansted Airport) turns before retiring at Orient Way for the night? Diagram starts 6th Jan.

Don't know where you've seen the diagram, but yes logic says it'll end up on the 1730 NRW to LST. What it does after that I don't know.
Why would they have an jntercity set with buffet and first class doing Stansted runs though?

Due in at Liverpool Street P6 at 1917. Next arrival or departure from P6 is the 19.55 to Stansted .. according to RTT.

Ah, I see. Well I should think that will get changed, unless it's a 745/1 that's coming into service on 6th...

The open data also implies that the 2000 to Norwich is formed of the stock off 1B05 1845 Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street.

I suggest that the switchover is something for the long term plan which may become effective during the timetable period rather than the way it will work on 6 (or maybe 8) January.

It would be interesting to know whether that is the only switchover scheduled to happen at Liverpool Street rather than Orient Way overnight.

I wonder if the Lowestoft to Liverpool Street and 3rd LST to NRW will have trolley service

The base unit diagrams and platform workings in RTT assume that all the 745s are in service on both routes. There are booked swaps between the routes to rotate the Stansted units to Norwich. At the moment they are being amended week by week to reflect what is actually happening.

Just do a Liverpool St location enquiry in RTT, filter LE for Greater Anglia and take a look. The Stansted 745 that goes to Crown Point for maintenance on the 20.00 down must come back the next day with something. It shouldn’t take too long to spot the morning swap.

0654 arrival from Norwich works 0725 to Stansted; 0708 arrival from Stansted works 0730 to Norwich.

007? Dumb luck or revenge on the PR department? Many pun headline possibilities if anything goes wrong : Dr No, Spectre, Never Say Never and some worse ones which surely even the EDP is not crass enough to use.

Hope it doesn't though!

For those of us unfamiliar with Ipswich layout, why does the stopper have to run wrong line through the tunnel?

1Y39 passes Halifax Junction at 1150, whilst on the down 9P90 passes there at 1153

In the evening, the GE service that got in the way of the 1900 Ni90 at Ipswich, now terminates at Colchester.

Richard Clinnick on twitter just tweeted about how 745007 should enter full revenue service this week.
There *should* be a @greaterangliaCl.745/0 in traffic this week. Expected that 745007 will be the first to carry passengers. If the diagram stays true, then when it should do: 0740/1230/1730 from Norwich and 1000/1500 from London. Diagram says Stansted, but that won't happen.
