For anybody wanting to see IET on Cotswolds today...

Currently at Hereford waiting for the 18:30 Paddington. Inbound working just pulled in and it is an IET. 800003.

Will be my first trip on one.

That's excellent; many thanks for going to the trouble of doing that. I'm in the Thames Valley to try and get HSTs tomorrow before it doesn't become possible so want to avoid the IETs: I'll have plenty of time to get them in the future :)

If you're worried about the HSTs going so soon too, don't worry as they won't be cleared from the Thames Valley until at least 2019 I believe.

Does anyone know the Sunday diagrams for the 800s in March, will they be the same as currently or will any extra workings be added?

Regarding Sunday diagrams, it might be preferable to ask towards the weekend because there is so much major Engineering Work taking place at weekends that many would probably change, anyway.

Hi. Can anyone tell me if the 1730 PAD to WSM on Sunday 25th Feb is going to be an 800 (or 2)?

Real-time Trains claims to be running an 800 to Paignton this Sunday! That can’t be right surely...

Is this likely to be an HST too? I’m guessing it is. 19:03 Pad to Exeter St David’s. It then heads off to Laira T.& R.S.M.D. At 22:30?

Real Time Trains NEVER says what is being run - at risk of saying what has been mentioned numerous times on the forum, what RTT says is what a service has been timed as. It does not necessarily mean that is what is booked to operate it! Although the two are of course, in the majority of cases, the same.

It is actually timed as an HST!

The confusion is because it is booked to return to the IEP depot afterwards following the platform associations (and that run is timed as an HST as well)

But the message does need to be made clear - before people assume that RTT itself is making things up, it is just taking whatever data GWR/NR give it!

I know that but it returns to North Pole IEP Depot.

No it doesn't! 1A29 is formed off 1C80 at Paignton, the ECS for which comes from OOC. The schedule for 5L86 is the set off 1L86, which I agree is shown from platform 2, but that is probably because the amended platforming at Paddington has yet to reach RTT.

You very often find platforming mot agreeing on RTT, especially in STP/VAR schedules, even after the event.

I would tweet GWR in the morning as they are quite good at responding to the 800 queries. They won't be able to tell you until the morning, though. The diagrams cannot be relied on due to various factors, mainly sufficient trained drivers which result in swapping with HSTs
