i have heard this morning that network rail are stopping the class 70s running on their metals untill they sort out why they keep breaking down, has anybody else heard this or is it just bunk um???

It's true, they keep breaking down. ; )
They may keep braking down yes but have NR really banned them? I'm sure they will prefer the money from the fines imposed on Freightliner?

The problem is when they get in the way of passenger trains. People don't take kindly to long delays when a train breaks down.

So far I think more than half the 70s have broken down or caught fire at some point, atleast one has broken down more than once.
