(I didn't realise that the route was laid out for cable haulage on the incline, although as I understand it locomotives were used from the start)

Redditch (before Studley and Astwood Bank) has had three station sites. The second was very close to the current one, but the original terminus of the Evesham and Redditch railway (1859 to 1868) was in Clive Road, about 500m towards Barnt Green.
