Message to all "the regulars"
I was taken yesterday by the ambulance (wearing just my pyjamers, slippers and heavy dressing gown) to the large Stepping Hill hospital and was taken straight through to the small ward section of the A & E Department and placed on a bed there. During the day, whist still lying on that bed, I was first given a CT scan, then at ongoing time periods, was given an ECG test then a series of x-rays were taken. I had a beef casserole of mid-day then tuna sandwich and biscuits later in the day. I was visited by a senior doctor at 17:00 who said all results had been reviewed and it had been decided that bloods would need to be taken to see what further action, if any, was required. At 19:00, an hour before the shift changeover, I was told that the bloods were satisfactory and that I would not be needed to stay overnight. It appears the problem was caused by some inner-ear internal fluid imbalance and I was given a prescription for 21 tablets (thrice daily for seven days) for me to take to my local pharmacy and an appointment made for me to attend the EN&T outpatients department at Stepping Hill hospital at 15:45 on Tuesday, 1st April. I was then put in a wheelchair and taken to the Discharge Suite.
That is when the "nightmare period" occurred" as that hospital uses the services of a company called Community Ambulance for returning discharged patients and it appears that last night, only a single ambulance was available, which could only take one passenger at a time and I spent hour after awaiting my turn in the queue and it was 02:05 this morning before I was taken back home. After a deep sleep, I awake at 11:00 this maring and after taking my morning medication, to the emergency prescription to the local pharmacy and waited for them to dispense it and returned home. I then fell asleep and it was 14:50 before I awoke and after having a hot drink, the first thing that I did was to make this posting, as many hours had elapsed since I notified all of you yesterday.
