I have telephoned my contact who is well versed in GNoS matters and he is of the opinion that when the Denburn Valley Line was arrived at, the 3rd Kittybrewster station would come before the 1st Kittybrewster station when travelling towards the Aberdeen area.

That would suggest that the first station was south of the Powis Place bridge which seems unlikely. What we need is an 1850s map! I would love to volunteer to go to Aberdeen to dig around in the archives for a few days, but I doubt Mrs C would be too impressed with that idea!!

Craigmyle Siding (private)

This current journey has most certainly been worthwhile, even if only for the "talk shop" it has generated. With regards that this private halt, neither my own researches nor a detailed look at RAILSCOT showed any mention of it when I was first designing this leg.

However I have now been informed it was mentioned in a publication and full details will be posted on this thread today.

Gazumped again! I think the internet in Hampshire must be 5 minutes behind Cheshire. I will retire to the Alexandra Hotel for a pint - only a short walk from Ballater station - and wait for the next journey.

It is mentioned in "Private and Untimetabled Stations" by G.Croughton
opened 1884 closed by June 1911

Craigmyle Siding -- also features in the Ian Allan Complete Atlas of Railway Station Names by Tony Dewick; which I tend to use as my "bible" for this game (not always with happy results !)
