Hi, currently travelling from Birmingham to ulverston and look like I will miss my connection so will be around 50 minutes delayed into ulverston.

In terms of delay repay, I presume I can claim on the single from Lancaster to ulverston as it is still part of the journey and works like a split?

Has anyone had any success in getting anything via customer services regarding the free ticket?

Curtly

I had a similar situation earlier this week (Manors – Carlisle ticket + Carlisle – Watford Junction Club Avanti ticket, with the Avanti service being delayed); I've submitted a delay repay request and will see what happens. Hopefully somebody else will be able to give an answer sooner, although I got a response for a delay repay claim for a non-complimentary ticket journey on the 5th today so it shouldn't take too long.

It's explicitly prohibited by the conditions of the loyalty scheme.

5.4 Reward Tickets have a nil value and do not qualify for Delay Repay refunds and are subject to availability.
You should claim compensation for your overall journey, with both tickets, but record the value of the Club Avanti ticket as £0.00, or £0.05 if the form doesn't allow zero.

You may need to send an email instead.

I think you can only book the complimentary tickets online, and Avanti delay repay's website shows tickets bought on Avanti's. If the delay was on Avanti, it should be possible to just select that ticket and have the value automatically set to £0.00.

You are entitled to claim Delay Repay for the whole journey, and your compensation will be calculated against what you paid for the tickets. So, in total you paid the cost of the Lancaster to Ulverston single and will receive a relevant percentage of that price.

I got delay repay of £1.49. Avanti said the delay was 15-29 minutes despite their own live train tracker saying it was 30 minutes delayed at Watford Junction, but at least it's something.

The delay is based on the final destination arrival time. So in your case Ulverston. So if Avanti have paid out the wrong amount do submit an appeal.

I'm not the original poster; mine's a separate case. I would for a higher amount, but when it's the difference between 25% and 50% back on a railcard-discounted Manors – Carlisle advance ticket, I can't find it in me to submit an appeal.
