Cobbler?!!

I've noticed on 1288gaje and Josh's site they mention Cobbles. What the heck are these? Some piece of plastic trash?

Cobblers, I believe are class 87s.

Cobblers was a name given to the Northhampton Non-Stoppers Back In NSE days, when the trains where hauled by NSE 86 and NSE mrk 1s. Todays "Cobblers" is called that because it is the Northhampton Non Stoppers

The cobblers are the the class 90 loco hauled services from and to Euston to Northampton

It started in the early 80s, when it was roarers. In fact, even in the NSE days 86401 (the only NSE liveried) 86, rarely worked it. Now they are normally worked by RES 90/0s (I'm old fashioned, should be EWS) although, the last one on Friday will be worked by NSE 87012 (why this livery. It's not historical and certainly not traditional. Try intercity or one of the experimental liveries)
