Hi all,
Today a very unusual operation took place in the car park at Dublin Connolly Station. Earlier this week 233 experienced an axle problem on an evening Enterprise departure from Connolly. This issue required attention at Inchicore Works on the other side of Dublin City but the loco could not travel by rail.
Therefore, this morning 233 was lifted off the rails in Connolly Yard and lowered onto a low-loader in the station's car park. It will travel by road through the centre of Dublin to the works, in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
This is a very unusual manoeuvre in Ireland and pictures from this morning's lift are now online at the following link:
