I've had to vote 23. Take out the traction and look at the light, composition etc. All very good. Liek the cross-stitch, best for originality. I expected more entries for an 'anything' category (not like I remebered to enter myself though)

Have to agree with you there Matt - I expected a flood of top quality entries and was slightly dissapointed with what we got.
I have to say though that railway photography ( good quality photography that is ) is notoriously difficult due to many reasons - our unsettled weather for one.I have been taking all types of pictures for over 40 years - portraits,weddings,sports,industrial ( my personal favourite as you control pretty much everything ) and lots of others but I still find railways the most difficult.
I had hoped that the introduction of digital photography would help improve the standard of peoples pictures but sadly that does not seem to be the case,as the plethora of railway fotopic sites proves.
Having said that,at the risk of repeating myself,what I love about this competition is the fact that someones camera phone picture could trash one taken with a high quality DSLR - long may that be the case.

Maybe the photos arent top notch but this is just for fun isnt it? I hope no-one is put off entering cause they dont think they are good enough. Its good to see what different people like taking photos of and , like you say, nowadays you dont have to have expensive equipment to come up with an interesting photo.

So come on folks. Find a photo and enter it.

To all those that are complaining about the apparent lack of quality pictures...did you enter any? If not then you really have no buisness criticizing those that went to the effort that did!

This is supposed to be a bit of fun by some people are all uppity about what they perceive to be a good picture.

Heavens above !!! Talk about being misunderstood - I think you'll find the part of the post that matters is the last part.
It seems that every time you try to post something serious here it gets diverted into a siding. Just saying what I felt - a lot of the pictures are poor quality,you can't get away from that,but in a competition like this,it doesn't matter - that's the whole truth and the beauty of it.
