Hi. Any body got some clear information on where I can use my senior concessionary pass in the Nottingham area. I know it's possible to use it on "local trains" but any information is very vague
to say the least. Any help, much appreciated.

The only info I can quickly find mentions Trams (NET) and is only for locals (Notts CC/City).

Hello Puffed-Out, and welcome to the forum. Do you have a Nottingham City or Nottinghamshire County concessionary pass?

For Nottingham city residents, I have always assumed that "local trains" means the trains you can catch with a Robin Hood card, which is valid for travel from Nottingham to just Attenborough, Carlton, Netherfield and Bulwell, but not Hucknall or anywhere else further afield.

the Robin Hood validity map is shown here:

But note, I don't have a concessionary card, so I might be completely wrong about all this though!

(EDIT: I can't see any reference to trains on the council website, so I would ask at the station if they accept them at all)

Welcome to the forum.

That will depend upon the exact 'senior concessionary pass' that you hold.
If the County of Issue is Nottinghamshire or Nottingham City then you are able to travel on the NET (Tram) foc on weekdays after 9.30am and before 11pm. (free all times at weekends and Bank Holidays)
Details:
Note that you must touch in before travel.

For passes issued by other County Councils there was a concessionary rate available at all times of the day/week. Buy a ticket at machine but do make sure that you carry your pass!

'Pass holders from other council areas need to purchase a concession return tram ticket from the tram stop ticket machines'

The rate for a Concession day ticket is £3.

The NET website refers to this as a "concession return tram ticket", which would suggest that it is only valid for one out and back journey on the tram, but if you click on Tickets and then on Day Tickets, it has the £3 concessionary ticket listed, which would suggest that it is an all-day ticket valid for unlimited travel on the day of issue.

It also says it is available to UK concessionary pass holders from outside Nottinghamshire, which would suggest that it is also available to concessionary pass holders from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (who do not generally qualify for free or concessionary travel outside their own country of the UK).

As an aside, I notice that the NET website says you can buy tickets from the NET Travel Centre at 4 King Street, Nottingham but it doesn't say what types of tickets can be bought there. Does anyone know what types of tickets are sold there?

It is [an all-day ticket] and represents better value than for Nottingham/Nottinhamshire Pass Holders for peak-time travel! I used to use it as such before I got my Nottinghamshire Pass and I now sometimes need to pay more.

Not sure about that.

I'm using a concessionary pass from outside Nottinghamshire, can I still travel for free?

Unfortunately we cannot accept any other local authority concessionary passes other than those issued by Nottingham City Council or Nottinghamshire County Council. You should buy your ticket before you board from the new ticket machines. Please refer to your card issuer for details on validity.
Would seem to require 'card issuer' validity, what ever that means!
