saw these on their way to swanage diesel gala earlier, very impressive as id not seen a 44/46 in person before 8-)

they pulled into the lymington line platform at brockenhurst (which is quite unusual) to let an express past

Pity the 46 isn’t wearing the same colours as that 69! Though I realise it’s the ‘wrong’ one for it.

I can't quite remember where I saw this, but someone suggested somewhere that this was to take the Peaks to the Severn Valley Railway for their Diesel Gala. There's then a path to Barrow Hill, assumed to be to take 37703 home, then another path from there to Burton, assumed to be to 31128 taking itself home.

I believe that is the case regarding the Peaks. 31128 failed either on Friday or early Saturday as the news was that it had been repaired by Saturday afternoon. hope they run on time on Monday as I and at least one other saw that the locos left Eastleigh early and passed Millbrook 37 min ahead of time only to be stopped at Redbridge until they were back on time. This was not apparent until they passed Brockenhurst, and we both decided that by the time we reached Brockenhurst/Sway we would have missed them

Glad you managed to catch up with them. Here the pair cross Holes Bay, a little earlier this afternoon. Don't think I'll bother with the convoy tomorrow as it's a bit early for me.

Very inconsiderate of them not to send it through Bristol. Poor show. I’d have got out of bed.
