After much publicity in the local media / press the following changes to local bus services have been finalised by Cornwall Council and will come into effect from early November.

Revised Cornwall bus services from Sunday 3 November

/1A Lands End/St Buryan/Penzance: timetable enhanced to include journeys covered by discontinued Western Greyhound (WG) services 501 and 504. Service 1 will provide coverage of Paul, Sheffield and Gwavas Estate, together with revised service 5. Confirmation that all school journeys will be provided at school times from Gwavas and Newlyn Bridge to Mounts Bay and Humphry Davy School.
Penzance/Helston/Falmouth: simplified to an hourly service between Penzance and Falmouth via Helston, Mon-Sat daytimes. Alternate buses run faster as service X2. Evening and Sunday service will be two hourly between Helston and Penzance and hourly between Goldsithney and Penzance. This service will no longer operate via Perranuthnoe – a new service 13 will now serve this village.
A Helston/Truro: a reduced frequency will operate during day-time hours; however the evening service will be withdrawn owing to poor use.
/5A Sheffield/Paul/Newlyn/Penzance: service broadly hourly as current, but some journeys provided by service 1. A reduced evening service will be provided as 6A and a reduced Sunday delivery as part of service 1/1A.
/6A Mousehole/Newlyn/Penzance: will operate every 30 minutes Monday - Saturday daytime and hourly during evening and Sunday daytime. All daytime journeys will be via the current 6 route and some evening journeys will operate as 6A to serve Paul, Sheffield and Gwavas. Sunday evening journeys are withdrawn.
/10APenzance/St Just: service revised to hourly from Penzance to St Just and continuing to Lower Boscaswell and return. Evening and Sunday service will be two hourly.
Penzance town service: will be combined into revised service 16 (see below).
New service operating from Penzance to Camborne via Leedstown replacing and extending the former Western Greyhound service 513. The service will also operate via Perranuthnoe, replacing current service 2 journeys to that village.
/14A/14B St Ives/Hayle/Camborne/Truro: service largely unchanged Monday - Saturday daytime. Evening and Sunday service reduced for winter.
St Ives/Nancledra/Penzance: route revised within Penzance to operate via current service 11 routes. The service 16 will no longer operate to Penbeagle Estate in St Ives as this is served by services with St Ives Minibus Company. Certain service 16 journeys will now operate via or continue to Zennor, in part replacing Western Greyhound service 508.
St Ives/Lelant/Penzance: service level similar on Monday – Saturday with a revised timetable. Evening and Sunday day-time journeys will no longer operate via Marazion. Sunday evening journeys are withdrawn.
Truro/Camborne/Hayle/Penzance: service increased to every 30 minutes between Penzance and Camborne on Monday – Saturday daytimes, otherwise largely unchanged. Evening and Sunday services will now follow the daytime route and not operate via St Day/Carharrack and St Erth villages.
Penzance/Hayle Retail Park: this service is withdrawn
St Austell/Truro: this service is replaced by new hourly service 18 on Monday – Saturday daytime between Truro and St Austell with connections for RCH Treliske. Buses will extend beyond St Austell Bus/Rail Station to Bethel, Boscoppa and Tregonissey Lane End. The service will no longer serve St Blazey and Par which are served by Western Greyhound services 524/525 and Malabar in Truro which will be served by a new service, the 588 (see below).
Redruth/Helston: this service will be reduced in frequency during off peak hours on Monday to Saturday to better match demand for journeys. Sunday services will be reduced in frequency.
Helston/Constantine/Falmouth: this service will be split into two separate services, 35 and 68A. Service 35 will operate between Helston and Falmouth via Gweek, Constantine, Lamanva Cross and direct to/from Falmouth. The Sunday service will be withdrawn for the winter. For journeys between Helford Passage and Falmouth via Mawnan Smith please refer to service 68A below.
Helston/St Keverne: the timetable for this service will be revised to better match demand for journeys, specifically the current 1132 and 1332 journeys from Helston will be revised and operate at around 1230. This service will also serve Bulwark Road three times a day.
Helston/Mullion/The Lizard: the timetable for this service will be revised with reductions for off peak, evening and Sunday provision.
Helston town service: this service will be withdrawn but most sections are replaced by diversion of other services.
Helston/Leedstown/Camborne: this service will be reduced to operating two hourly during off peak hours between Camborne and Helston. The section of route between Camborne and Townshend will retain an hourly service combined with new service 13. Within Helston journeys will operate via a clockwise loop of Coinagehall Street - Pendeen Park – Gwealdues – Tesco – Sainsburys – Cottage Hospital – Coinagehall Street replacing part of the former 38 town service.
/42/43: these wholly Cornwall Council supported routes in the Camborne/Illogan/Portreath area are revised and operate as services 46 and 47, see below.
/41B Camborne/Redruth/Falmouth: service continues largely unchanged, but on Monday to Saturday daytimes, alternate journeys hourly between Redruth and Camborne will serve Weeth Road, as 41A (currently served by 40). 41B will no longer serve Mabe on evenings and Sundays.
Camborne/Praze/Helston: this service will be reduced to operating two hourly during off peak hours between Camborne and Helston. The school journey to Helston School will be renumbered as service 945. Within Helston journeys will operate via an anti-clockwise loop of Coinagehall Street –Tesco Cottage Hospital – Sainsburys – Tesco – Gweal Dues – Pendeen Park – Coinagehall Street – replacing part of the 38 service. The service will no longer continue beyond Camborne Bus Station to Tesco Extra but passengers can access the superstore by transferring to the new services 46 and/or 47.
NEW: an hourly service, on Monday to Saturday daytime, will operate between Redruth and Camborne via North County, Illogan, Treloweth, Pool Health Centre, Tesco Extra, Tolvaddon, Dolcoath and Pengegon. An approximately two hourly service will operate between Truro and Reduth via Carnon Downs Estate, Devoran, Perranwell Station, Frogpool, Gwennap and Lanner.
NEW: an hourly service, on Monday to Saturday daytime, will operate between Truro and Troon via RCH Treliske main entrance, Threemilestone Polstain Road, Crofthandy, Carharrack, St Day, Vogue, Redruth, Barncoose Hospital main entrance, Illogan, Portreath, Park Bottom, Pool Health Centre, Tesco Extra, Camborne and Beacon. The evening and Sunday service, currently provided as service 43, will continue as service 47 with some timing revisions.
/68/68A/68B: these Falmouth town services will be replaced by new services.
/69/69A, now wholly supported by Cornwall Council and including some facilities provided by current service 400 which is withdrawn:
an hourly service, on Monday to Saturday daytime, albeit with a later first journey than operates at present. Journeys will operate from Falmouth Moor and either via Swanvale or Swanpool and Pennance Mill to Golden Bank, Swans Reach, Longfield, Swanvale returning to the Moor.
A: an hourly service, on Monday to Saturday daytime, albeit with a later first journey than operates at present. Journeys will operate from Falmouth Moor via Trescobeas and Conway Road to Budock Water and then via current 35 route to Mawnan Smith and Helford Passage.
new service in part replacing service 400 between Mylor Bridge/Flushing and Falmouth operating via Old Hill.
A: new service in part replacing service 67 between Mabe, Penryn ASDA and Falmouth operating via Greenwood Road and Old Hill.
Truro/St Agnes: this service is withdrawn. Alternative Western Greyhound services are available to/from St Agnes (see service 587 and 588 below).
Truro/Falmouth: timetable similar to that introduced from 29 September, except that only limited journeys will operate via Ponsanooth and Perranwell.
Truro/Mylor/Falmouth: Withdrawn and replaced by local services in Falmouth (see 68/68A/69 abouve).
Withdrawn. Penzance/St Buryan/Lands End – replaced by the number 1 service operated by First South West (see above). All school journeys covered.
Withdrawn. Penzance/Lamorna Cove/St Buryan/St Just – Journeys between Penzance and Lamorna Cove will be provided by First as part of service 5 (see above). The section of route between Lamorna Turn and Sennen Cove largely duplicates service 1/1A which provides alternative journey options. For journeys between Sennen and St Just the Council is exploring options for a dial-a-ride type service.
Withdrawn. Gurnards Head/Morvah/St Just – The Council will be revising existing school buses to provide for scholars travelling to Cape Cornwall School. For other journeys the Council is exploring a dial-a-ride type service.
Withdrawn. St Ives/Zennor/Penzance – A reduced service will be provided on this route by means of diverting certain journeys on the existing First service 16. A service will be maintained from Penzance to Trythall School.
Withdrawn. St Just/Sancreed/Penzance – A revised service will be provided by West Penwith Community Bus Association maintaining key journeys to/from Penzance and the existing school journey to Cape Cornwall School.
Penzance/Alverton – This service will be completely withdrawn, alternative facilities exist on First service 6 although Lansdowne Estate and The Ropewalk will no longer be served.
Withdrawn. Leedstown/Relubbus/Penzance – This service will be operated by First as service 13 (see above) with revised timings. All journeys will operate to/from Camborne.
Withdrawn. Hayle Town Service – This service will be operated by Age UK Cornwall as service 15 with a revised timetable giving an hourly provision around Queensway and through the town to the Retail Park with diversions to Hayle Towans and Gwithian.
Truro/St Austell - The last Sunday journey on Truro-St Austell 520 service on Sundays will be withdrawn but the 522 will additionally run on Sundays into Truro.
Newquay/St Dennis/St Austell - The 521 Sunday service between Newquay and St Austell will reduce from hourly to two-hourly (but 522 will partially compensate for that) and there will be some minor timetable changes. The hourly weekday service will be maintained and the service will now run to St Austell Station but will no longer run via The Co-op in St Austell. The 521 will now operate via Treloggan and Hendra instead of St Columb Minor, whilst the 527 will run via St Columb Minor instead of Hendra and Treloggan.
Truro/St Dennis/St Austell - A brand-new Sunday service will be introduced on the St Austell – Nanpean – Grampound – Truro service and certain journeys will run to St Austell Station.
/5/6 Fowey/Par/St Austell/Mevagissey/Gorran Haven - will be improved to run every half hour between Fowey and Mevagissey/Heligan via St Austell Station. This will partially replace First 27 which will no longer run to St Blazey or Par. No journeys will run beyond Heligan to Gorran. Buses will only operate to Trevarth in Mevagissey (not via School Hill) so that larger vehicles can be used on the route. Buses will run to Heligan twice an hour on either the outbound or return journeys not both. The Sunday service will be revised to two-hourly between Fowey and St Austell and hourly between St Austell and Mevagissey/Heligan.
Withdrawn Heligan Gardens to Gorran Haven – the Council is awaiting tenders for a replacement service and will announce the outcome of this within the next week.
Newquay/Summercourt/St Austell/Eden - will run via the A390 instead of Tregrehan between Chapelfields and Eden and there will be a revised timetable. This will provide improved connections for passengers from Fowey travelling to Eden. All buses will run via St Austell Station.
St Austell/Roche/Bodmin - will have a slightly revised timetable and will be re-routed via Carlyon Road and Eliot Road. All buses will run to St Austell Station.
Withdrawn. Bude/Morwenstow - The service will be replaced by a revised service 219 operated by Stagecoach South West Ltd.
Newquay/Portreath/St Ives - between Newquay and St Ives will be withdrawn for the winter but will be returning at Easter for the summer.
Truro/Tregony/St Mawes - between Truro and St Mawes will lose its Saturday evening journeys but the Sunday service will be retained with minor changes
Newquay/Pentire will have a slightly revised timetable
Newquay/Treloggan will no longer double-run to Bedowan Meadows and will run between Newquay, Chester Road, Trerice Drive and Morrisons only to a revised timetable.
Withdrawn. Camelford/Bodmin – A replacement service will be operated during off peak hours by Webber’s Coaches
Polperro/Looe/Plymouth - A new Sunday service will be introduced between Polperro, Looe, St Germans and Plymouth on service 572
/586 Newquay/St Newlyn East/Truro will revert to the original route via Fiddlers Green following the extensive work to the bridge. Service 585 will be reduced in frequency and operate on Mondays to Fridays only. A new Sunday service on 586 will be introduced between Newquay and Truro via Newlyn East.
- NEW day-time service will run Truro– Malabar-Perranzabuloe–Perranporth (hourly) thus doubling the frequency between Perranporth and Truro to two buses an hour all day and hourly on evenings and Sundays. This will also partially replace First’s 85/85A to St Agnes and First’s 27 service into Malabar which are both being withdrawn.
/2/4 Newquay/Perranporth/Truro/St Columb Major/Newquay or Wadebridge - will revert back to the original numbers as routes 597 Newquay–St Columb Major–Truro (hourly) and 587 Newquay–Perranporth–St Agnes–Truro (hourly).
will run Wadebridge – St Columb (connecting at St Columb with the hourly 593 between Newquay and Plymouth) – Truro (hourly).
U1 Falmouth/Tremough: this recently introduced service continues unchanged.
X18 Penzance/Truro: reduced timetable; commuter journeys and one shopper bus facility to/from Truro retained.

This round of service changes is sadly not the last with more reductions to routes and frequencies expected by next April in a re-tendering exercise.

Thanks RichW, an interesting choice of buses! A Primo and a S Reg Dart formerly of Turners, hope reliability is not an issue over the winter.
At least they look good externally which is more than can be said for some local operators buses in Devon & Cornwall.
I'm not picking solely on Jacketts but some of their fleet look in worse external condition than some of the First Kernow fleet - and that's saying something!

Do you know where this operator will base it buses? Presumably in the Falmouth area.

They are being stored at Newham somewhere I suspect, as I see them coming out early in the morning on my way to work on Newham industrial estate.
It is the same company that operate Falmouth P+R, the King Harry Ferry, St Mawes Ferry, and Enterprise boats amongst others.
