Surely key workers are not making daily commutes of hundreds of miles. So I ask why are the long distance services the likes of Avanti and LNER still running? The passenger loads must be minimal and it would surely be a better utilisation of resources to have these services replaced by more local services and allow key workers to keep their social distancing.

I know for a fact that one of the Government people I know who is working on the structure of the advice lives in the North West and is using Avanti to get to London. For some reason they aren't doing home working yet.

Two train pairs should be enough though, I'd have thought, i.e. one outward early morning, one back mid-evening.
