By the sounds of it, the FGW 67s will be out and about tonight from Cardiff.

Tonight has seen an unprecedented number of passengers travelling into Cardiff on our services - with twice as many customers travelling to the station than for any other event ever held at the Millennium Stadium.

We had, of course, put contingency plans in place to run additional services for the Team GB game, but relatively few customers had bought advance tickets and until we saw what people were doing today, it was impossible to predict exact numbers.

We responded quickly to what we saw this afternoon, and have put 14 additional trains into service to cope with the increased numbers - as many as 9,000 seats - including putting the Olympics contingency trains into play which would normally be based in London

Mind you, although as they admitted they couldn’t really predict how many passengers were to travel to the match, you'd have thought someone in FGW would be checking their events diary (and I’m not just talking about the Team GB Olympics events!), I.E Major event coming up at the Millennium Stadium, Get all spare stock into the area of Cardiff / Bristol for todays events.
