Is Salisbury- Romsey- Eastleigh - Hedge End -Portsmouth Hbr a valid route?
The routing guide appears to suggest it isn’t and you have to go via Southampton.
I’d like to travel out that way and return via Southampton.
Don’t know if it’s relevant but I intend using an off peak day return
Many thanks
paul

It's surely the most direct route unless I'm missing some restrictions I'm unaware of.

Map SN between Salisbury and Portsmouth Group routeing points - shows Romsey to Eastleigh but not Eastleigh to Fareham.

However Crewkerne - Salisbury - Romsey - Eastleigh - Fareham - Portsmouth is a shorter distance than going via Southampton so is valid.

Crewkerne-Salisbury 48 miles
Salisbury-Romsey 16.5 miles
Romsey-Eastleigh 7.25 miles
Eastleigh-Portsmouth Harbour via Botley 22.25 miles
Total 94 miles

Crewkerne-Salisbury 48 miles
Salisbury-Redbridge 22.5 miles
Redbridge-Southampton Central 2.75 miles
Southampton Central-Portsmouth Harbour via Bitterne 25.75 miles
Total 99 miles

The former route appears to be the shortest route via scheduled services and is thus a permitted route.

Thanks for the responses - I though it may be OK as looking at the map it seemed shorter than going via Southampton
