Thanks. Very annoying that there's such a lack of clarity now. Judging by past twitter replies L looks the best bet.

Do Cross Country put reservations in G-L? Whenever I've looked to reserve seats recently for passengers at work (on trains I know are booked for 2x22x's) it's only offered A-F.

They are trialling offering more advance purchase tickets and putting reservations in the rear set of double voyagers, excluding carriage L. These are only on certain services at present….

I did that once, roughly one year ago.

Trying to get an unreserved seat in the rear set can be hit or miss depending on the day. XC have taken (being generous, due to "circumstances") to running a 4+4 followed by a 5+5, especially on my morning and evening peak journeys to/from Sheffield. The eight-car set is one car too short, the 10-car set is only nine because the rear coach (not always First) is locked out of use.
