CrossCountry Train Managers striking in October

The union legally must give the company 14 days notice. They aren't required to give the public any notice at all (though either/both of the parties usually do some kind of press release).
Thanks this is just frustrating. Have tickets booked and have no idea what is happening. Cross country twitter are useless it's only train splitter reporting any kind of issue

I've just spoken to RMT and they have confirmed no industrial-action????

Who have you spoken to at the RMT? They have instructed their members not to come to work.

Maybe Labour don't want a new strike so early in their term so are frantically trying to sort it?

Well they are still selling tickets for october saturdays on their website. It is indeed very confusing.

I did wonder why I had 'no results' when searching for a ticket to Willington for next Saturday. Good news that it's been suspended :)

What has changed for the action to be called off? Have XC agreed to stop using contingency guards, or increased the payment offered to full time staff working their Rest Days perhaps?

All I’ve heard is the Train Managers have been given a revised offer….. I don’t know any more than that.

And managers who have been "w**ly waggling" about how much they were getting for working shifts have been told to button it.

There's a narrative that there are "plenty" of staff despite all the unfilled vacancies and it makes me wonder how all these "contingency" managers can find time to despatch/guard/drive trains and still do their own jobs. Maybe a big biting on the bum is imminent in the management sector when realistic heads start looking in rather than believing what they're fed soon.

I don't see the motivation that they have to squeeze until he pips squeak unlike the old days. They're just there to deliver the service using the establishment levels that have been set and agree with the DfT (HM Treasury).
Conversely, is there any motivation to make things better? They still get paid, no matter how poor the service is.

Just a minor correction "father Jack". There is no contingent driver arrangement at XC. It is either a driver graded driver, or the train doesn't run, which is somewhat different to LNER who WERE paying their managers £500 a pop to driver theirs.

As you say though contingent staff covering the XC on board grades

Thanks for that clarity Phil, I was talking more about the industry in general and managers working other people's jobs rather than recruiting or sorting issues that are long outstanding.
