The occasional 142 creeps in although I’ve not seen one for a while.
Once all the pacers are withdrawn the coast should be solid 156.
In fact, Northern promised it would be solid 4 car 156 once everything has settled down but there don’t appear to be any platform works planned to allow this.

Being a local on the line, the only platforms that don’t accommodate the 4 coaches are the request stops that weren’t upgraded for the 37 trains

Haven't four-car 156s been used on the Cumberland Coast line for years?

No, normally 2 car operation with the occasional 3 car (156/153)

There used to be a rule that no more than 2 vehicles could be in use between certain stations (might have been north of Sellafield). Some platforms were extended for the loco services but would still not be long enough for 2x156.
During major events like the Whitehaven Maritime Festival, 4 car trains were run under special arrangements.
