I have Bachmann ROD 3023 fitted with 36557 decoder .... runs fine. I have also just fitted Gaugemaster DCC22 decoder to Hornby 9F , hard wired. The 9F also has modification with Mashima motor and flywheel, runs fine. Problem is that when the ROD is in the vicinity of the 9F, then it edges forward like a ticking clock even with no power applied ( to either loco ). Is this interference ? Can anybody assist with their input, please ? Both decoders are currently with default settings.

What controller are you using?

IIRC there was a problem with the Hornby Select controller. It's not NMRA compliant and causes issues (definitely with the Bachman 36557)

Which loco is it that is misbehaving, not quite clear which from your post. Was the 9F hard wiring done by you or by a shop? Might be worth (if you can) take it to someone you know with a layout or a local shop with a test track and see if the problem reoccurs there.

You will find better experts on websites like RMWeb than here.
