Hi,

Can someone please tell me the difference between Dead In Transit (DIT) and Dead On Rear (DOR)?

Thanks,

Dead in transit might be immediately behind the leading locomotive, but in front of the trailing load (carriages or wagons), dead on rear will be at the opposite end of the train to the leading locomotive.

I think DIT is when a loco is being moved from A to B using a service train (can be anywhere in the consist), whilst DIR/DOR is top-n-tail where the then rear loco is shut-down for that part of the journey.
