Any one know or got thoughts on Delay Repay when ticket acceptance is in place. Say traveling from Crowborough and all trains cancelled so ticket acceptance via Tunbridge Wells. Journey time is not necessarily different but one needs to drive 8 miles, pay for parking etc. so relatively significant costs but potentially no actual delay on travel time.

Is one entitled to delay repay and if so for how long.

If journey not delayed then no compensation due under Delay Repay, unfortunately.

You could, of course, elect not to travel and seek a Condition 26 refund.

Thanks that was the conclusion I was minded towards. its interesting you make your own way to the alternative route and don't get compensation towards the cost, or you use the railway provided bus and do get compensation as it takes longer. the former option means that there is a need for less of the latter which is just as well really as of course the bus can't carry all the passengers!

The railway industry won't know how convenient going from Tunbridge Wells instead of Crowborough is for the individual passenger, so can't arrange a compensation scheme on that basis.

You could always get in touch with a customer service department about it, though, and explain your situation. If you incurred additional costs in order to avoid being delayed by a service change which hadn't been announced when you bought the ticket, they may be willing to give you something towards these.

So your journey is from Crowborough to London, you arrive at Crowborough and find trains are cancelled and you travel to Tunbridge Wells and thence onto London. Even if the Tunbridge Wells train is on time if your overall journey from Crowborough to London is delayed by more than 30 minutes then a delay repay claim would be in order.

If it was planned works then a delay repay claim wouldn't be entertained.
