Yesterday I was walking on the Greenway from Low Moor to Ossett. Quite an interesting walk if you take some old maps with you and try to work out where features of the railway once were.
In Saville Town, Dewsbury, the path joins the remains of the Headfield Junction branch linking the L&Y with the GNR. The bridge and viaduct are in remarkably good condition considering OS Maps and plans show this line as dismantled somewhere before 1938. A photograph on the RAILSCOT site suggests this line was re-instated after the war and lasted to at least 1982.
Was this line just used for goods connections between the two companies or did any passenger services run over it ?.
